This summer we are lucky to have two hardworking young interns with us. They’ve come to J.W. Morton & Associates to gain real-world experience, while building up their portfolios and skills. Rebecca comes to us from Iowa State University and will put her graphic design talents to work for J.W. Morton clients this summer. Jule attends the University of Northern Iowa. She’ll use her marketing prowess to help account managers and creatives on a variety of tasks. We’re excited they’re here and look forward to seeing great things from them this summer.
We asked Rebecca and Jule a few getting-to-know-you questions. Read below to learn more!

What are you looking forward to most/enjoying about being a summer intern?
So far I am enjoying the amount of real-life stuff they’ve let me take part in. Things that are for real people (not hypothetical customers) that I can put in my portfolio.
What is your dream job?
Either working at a big publication company or doing website design for an innovative company.
What are three of your pet peeves?
1. People who take their time getting into turn lanes.
2. People who are lazy.
3. People that don’t take the time to better themselves.
What is your favorite dessert?
My favorite dessert is probably the Buster Bar from Dairy Queen!

I’m not sure if I have an all-time favorite song but my guilty pleasure is pop music.

Name: Jule Staton
Hometown: Cedar Rapids, IA
School: University of Northern Iowa
Degree: I am approaching my senior year as a marketing/advertising major, with a PR minor.
What are you looking forward to most/enjoying about being a summer intern?
I am most looking forward to being able to work with everyone in the office on different projects for clients – everyone from the art directors to the account managers, and everyone in between. I want to learn from as many different people as possible! I really enjoy seeing how the people of the agency collaborate together as a single unit, as well as with the clients!
What is your dream job?
My dream job would have to be working for an ad agency somewhere in the surrounding area. I would prefer to work at an ad agency rather than work for one company, because I prefer to work with different groups of people. In an ad agency you have the freedom to work with many different types clients and build many different relationships.
What are three of your pet peeves?
1. I am not lazy by any means… but I very much dislike parking far away.
2. I cannot stand it when there is a drop of water on my windshield. Whether it is rain or some single random drop of water, it has to go! Needless to say the windshield wipers are used often.
3. I do not like it when people I do not know sit next to me in movie theaters. I need my bubble space when enjoying a film!
What is your favorite dessert?
My favorite dessert would have to be my grandmother’s finger cake. She used to have a catering business when I was young so she would make cakes for birthdays, weddings, graduations, etc. She would slice off the tops of cakes to make them level, then take the top she cut off and layer them on top of each other then place them in the freezer. All you have to do is rip off layers of cake and enjoy! So good!
What is your favorite song?
“Breathe” by Breaking Benjamin. (It may also have to do with the fact that it is the first song I ever crowd-surfed to!)
What are three fun facts about you?
1. I love traveling! Whether it’s a quick weekend trip to a city, or several weeks in Europe, I love exploring new places.
2. I am always on the go, and I like it that way.
3. I am always smiling and laughing. Yes it is true. Some people ask me what I can possibly be so happy about all the time, but truth is I am just a really happy person! I am outgoing and full of energy, because I know that it makes others smile too.
